Product Description

Permatex Clear RTV Silicone Adhesive Sealant comes from a trusted line of Permatex sealants for virtually any automotive sealing application, from windshields to vinyl tops to electrical connections. These well-known general-purpose and job specific sealants are cornerstones in the Permatex line. This is a general-purpose, black RTV indoor/outdoor sealant. This sealant seals, bonds, repairs, mends and secures glass, metal, plastics, fabric, vinyl, weather stripping and vinyl tops. It protects and repairs electrical wiring and may be applied to horizontal or vertical surfaces. Temperature range -75 degree fahrenheit to 450 degree fahrenheit, resists oil, water, weather, vibration, grease.

They sell smaller tubes of this at auto stores that comes in black, red or blue colors. I am amazed this product is not more well known as it sticks to almost anything and gives a unbelievable bond.
I first bought it to use on my valve cover for my old Ford escort, worked great. I then used it on the water pump (no gasket used, i just smeared this stuff around the thermostat housing) never had a leak. I noticed when it dries, it dries hard but a tad flexible. I kept having my rear view mirror fall off my windshield, after trying that exposy for it, I thought, let me try this Permaatex "Gasket maker" so I put a dab on the mirror and had it tapped to the windshield via duck tape. Day later, I removed the duck tape and that mirror has never came down since!
I have this key chain that has a small deer in a glass cube, it came apart from the chain, I glued that....amazing bond!
I had a small leak from my transmission hose that goes to radiator in my 99 Volvo, not a huge... Read more

    Although the calipers are now protected from corrosion and look much better than before, the paint didn't give as good a coverage as I was hoping for. The primary problem I had was that the silver paint did not mix well and most of my first coat was more clear than color. After I had used most of the paint (in the third coat) it was almost all color and was providing much better coverage but the paint was also curing in the can and my time was running out to use it up. Maybe i needed to do a better job of stirring or shaking the paint before using, so I can't say for certain that it was a problem with the product itself.

    What was definitely a problem was the cheap foam paint brush included in the kit which came apart as I was finishing my first coat of paint. If I hadn't bought two extra brushes before starting I would have wasted the the rest of the paint, having nothing to apply it with.       Reduing a 73 opel gt and started out welding not any more. No more warpage and it`s strong, glue wth the lord fusor you will be happy and it speeds up the restoration.

      I used POR15 on the inside of a truck cab that sat out too long and rusted. I sandblasted what I could and used the POR15 everywhere else. It goes on easy and seems to be very durable.

      I am in the process of restoring a '69 Chev stepside and am using this product during reassembly. The adhesion this stuff has is incredible. Don't get it on anything you don't want it on because you won't be able to get it off (your hands included)! I don't have any opinion yet one how long it lasts/works however I feel really confident that it will work as advertised.

      I did order this item, but got a phone call from Rust Bullet in Reno, Nevada. Gotta say the women that I spoke with were SO NICE, wanting to confirm my order, delivery information etc. When I mentioned I was repairing a standing-seam metal roof, they recommended I switch to their brush-on aluminum/metallic paint, which I used and am very pleased with.

      The item on this page is intended to be sprayed on, as most automotive paints would be.

      I also ordered a bottle of their Metal Blast rust remover, and that is amazing stuff. It made very short work of the surface rust on my roof, but then I tried it on an old spare-tire wheel from my '86 Jeep Comanche. This poor piece of steel was hanging beneath the bed of my pickup since new. It finally fell off when the support cable rusted through, and has been sitting in the bed of the truck, right were water stands after a rain, for about 2 years. The thing IS rust.

      I followed directions,preped the surface, applied two coats and within two weeks the surface is begining to discolor (rust red). This product is all boast, do not waste your time,effort or money.
