The thing that really impressed me about the coating material is the resistance to brake dust. After all these years, the brakes are relatively clean without any cleaning.The coating material easily results in a shiny finish (three coats). Good preparation is necessary - use the enclosed brake cleaning fluid. If the brakes are fairly old and encrusted with brake dust, you may want to buy more cans of the stuff from the auto parts store if needed - don't skimp on the preparation. Use wire brushes if needed to clean all the little crannies. Although I have seen pictures of painting done while the brake calipers are attached to the car, it's best if you can remove them from the car (do this only if you are capable of properly refilling the brake fluid and bleeding the brakes) or at least dismount them from the suspension mount and hang them to avoid immediate contact with any other brake parts... I suggest that anyone considering this DIY project go to youtube and watch several of the "how to" videos detailing the job step-by-step before trying it cold. I finally had to invest in the jack stands and hydraulic jack when I bought the kit (since the job requires the removal of all 4 tires at once). The whole process requires about 6 hours of your day and careful cleaning of the calipers and taping-off of the area around the calipers (so as not to get paint on anything but where you want it). Despite the labor involved, the finished job looks great and has held up well even after 6+ months. They look great, as if they were bought in red brand new.
